    Skipper was what mum proudly called a Heinz 57. I don’t know where he came and never knew his parentage. I think Skipper was special to mum because she had waited so many years to have a dog and he was the first.

      Oh, Yes. That’s true. Meaning 57 varieties (as in 57 different Heinz foods). In other words not a true bred (breed)!

    Looking at Skipper now above, sitting between us (in colour) I begin to appreciate just what a fine looking dog he was. I don’t think you ever see a dog quite like him nowadays, with the white on his chest and the black around his eyes
