Derek Thanks. I have made the suggested change and addition. I have it in my mind that these pictures of South Africa must all have been taken during their first voyage, which I think was in 1959? Do you by any chance have any information on that date?
That sounds about right. I remember Grandpa and Grandma Evans (Percy and Maud) visiting and staying with us in Johannesburg for about 6 months. I think your time suggestion is about correct but I cannot say I have any specific knowledge of the actual dates. I do remember that their first trip to Australia, when they did not visit South Africa was in 1952 and that they narrowly missed the Suez crisis as my parent were somewhat concerned about it at the time.
That’s interesting, I had not remembered that there was a trip to Australia in 1952. That would explain some things about the pictures…
